And don't forget to reach out to others in the community to find someone who would happily care for your pet. Retirement communities, schools, daycares and local shelters are all options.

If you see something unusual in the wild or in a pet product, please consider reporting to NY Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) at isinfo@dec.ny.gov or 518-402-9425.
NY DEC has also created helpful guidelines for aquarium and pet owners to prevent unwanted pet escapes or releases found here.
